Beirut-based Al Jamal Publications has recently released the Arabic translation of the novel ‘The Angel’s Game’ by Spanish author Carlos Ruiz Zafon.

The book, a prequel to ‘The Shadow of the Wind’ is the second part of his famous series ‘The Cemetery of Forgotten Books’. Published in Spanish in 2008 to widespread acclaim, it was subsequently translated into 40 languages including English and French.

The Angel’s Game was on the Spanish bestselling books list for four consecutive years and constituted a literary phenomenon in the publishing history in Spain and other Spanish-speaking countries.

The thriller, which was translated into Arabic by Muawiya Abdul Majid, chronicles the life of a fictional author in Barcelona before the outbreak of civil war during the 1920s, and weaves a powerful tale of intrigue in the lead up to the conflict, which resulted in the death of more than half a million people.
