39th IBBY International Congress in Trieste

by | Jul 26, 2024 | News

The International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) announces that the 39th IBBY International Congress will take place in Trieste from August 30 to September 1. The biennial event, hosted this year by IBBY Italy, will unite IBBY members and experts in children’s books and reading development from all corners of the world.

The IBBY Congresses are renowned for fostering international collaboration, offering a unique platform for attendees to make valuable contacts, exchange innovative ideas, and broaden their horizons in the realm of children’s literature and reading advocacy.

Every two years, a different National Section of IBBY has the honor of hosting the Congress. This year, Trieste will welcome several hundred participants who will engage in a rich program of lectures, panel discussions, seminar sessions, and workshops centered on current congress themes. The event will not only serve as a venue for the General Assembly and other critical meetings but will also feature various exhibitions and celebrations, including the prestigious Hans Christian Andersen Awards and the IBBY Honour List.

The 39th IBBY International Congress is proudly supported by the Italian Centro per il Libro e la Lettura (the Centre for Books and Reading of the Italian Ministry of Culture), the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, and the Municipality of Trieste.
