Alice Oseman’s Auction Supports Gaza Aid Efforts

by | May 23, 2024 | News

Alice Oseman, bestselling author of the YA Heartstopper books, has raised nearly £20,000 for children in Gaza in a special auction organised by Save the Children.

Not Alone: The Alice Osman Fundraiser for Children in Gaza included Alice Oseman bookplates and Heartstopper enamel pins as well as ‘signed and doodled’ Alice Oseman books.

Save the Children said: “All funds raised will be donated to Save the Children’s Gaza Emergency Appeal which is supporting children in Gaza. Save the Children is providing urgent aid to children and families affected by the Gaza crisis, where thousands of children are facing starvation, disease, and trauma. They’re distributing essential supplies like food, water, shelter kits, and medical supplies, as well as providing mental health support and education initiatives. Save the Children is committed to scaling up their response to reach more children in need, but they rely on donations to continue their aid efforts.”

Oseman said: “I am so pleased to present a fundraiser for Save the Children’s Gaza Emergency Appeal, which is providing urgent aid to children and families suffering due to the ongoing situation in Gaza.”

Just before the auction closed on 17 May, Lisa Aubrey, director of regional fundraising at Save the Children UK, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Alice for setting up this one-of-a-kind fundraiser, which is already proving incredibly popular. Civilians in Gaza are being left without protection and are paying the heaviest price for the ongoing violence. Save the Children is calling for an immediate, definitive ceasefire to save and protect the lives of children in Gaza.”
